When is the Best Time to Visit?
The best time is June to September, especially August, when days are mild, the sky is deep blue and the grassland is green and full of yak herds. In winter the lake area is often closed and roads can be icy.

Summer

Autumn
September to October, about 0–15°C by day. September is still excellent, with crisp air and clear skies. In October nights are freezing and the grass turns brown.
Winter
November to February, about −15 to 5°C. The lake freezes over, the area is usually closed, and roads can be icy. Not recommended.
What to Wear
Even when it is 20°C in the sun, the wind at Namtso is cold. Wear layers: a down jacket (with a hood if possible), long sleeves and warm, waterproof shoes. A hat and a scarf or neck buff protect you from both the sun and the wind.
Namtso tip: the light is the reason to come. Sunrise, sunset and the night sky are the best moments. Your guide knows the best viewpoints around Tashi Dor peninsula.
