What you can see in 12 days
Twelve days covers the great sights of central Tibet in one trip: Lhasa, the green valleys and forests of Nyingchi in the east, Everest in the west and Namtso Lake on the northern grassland.
For walkers, this length fits the trek from Old Tingri to Everest Base Camp, several days on foot through high villages and pastures with Everest ahead of you. It also fits a holiday in Nepal and Bhutan.
A typical 12-day route
- Days 1–3 — Lhasa
- Days 4–5 — Nyingchi
- Days 6–9 — Gyantse, Shigatse, Everest Base Camp
- Days 10–11 — Namtso Lake
- Day 12 — Departure
Who it suits
Travellers who want to see the four faces of central Tibet in one journey — the city, the forests, the highest mountains and the northern lakes — and walkers who want to approach Everest on foot instead of by road.
Good to know
Nyingchi is lower than Lhasa, at around 3,000 m, which makes a good rest between higher places. Spring in Nyingchi, from late March to April, brings the peach blossom. We arrange all permits.
