What you can see in 9 days
Nine days lets you see Lhasa properly and then go far. The Grand Loop takes you west to Everest and back by the northern road through the grasslands, the Yangpachen hot springs and Namtso Lake, so no road is driven twice.
Other nine-day trips cross to Kathmandu by way of Everest, join Nyingchi in the east with Gyantse and Shigatse in the west, or start in Chengdu or Xining and arrive on the Qinghai–Tibet Railway. There is also a four-day trek from Tsurphu Monastery to Yangpachen for walkers.
A typical 9-day route
- Days 1–3 — Lhasa
- Days 4–6 — Yamdrok Lake, Gyantse, Shigatse, Everest Base Camp
- Days 7–8 — Northern grassland, Namtso Lake
- Day 9 — Departure

Travellers who want to see Tibet in all its directions in one trip: the city, Everest, the northern grassland and the sacred lakes. It also suits rail lovers who want the journey on the Qinghai–Tibet Railway to be part of the holiday.
Good to know
These trips include several nights above 4,000 m; the slow start in Lhasa is what makes them comfortable. Best months are May to June and September to October. We arrange all permits.
