4–7 Day Tibet Tours

What four to seven days in Tibet can cover

Four to seven days is the classic first-visit window. The first two days belong to Lhasa — at 3,650 metres, acclimatization is the real itinerary — walking the Barkhor circuit, sitting in Jokhang Temple and visiting Potala Palace at your own pace. After that there is room for one or two excursions: the turquoise sweep of Yamdrok Lake, Namtso Lake on the Changthang grassland, Ganden Monastery on its ridge above the valley, or the green forested gorge country of Nyingchi to the east.

If Everest Base Camp is the goal, plan for a full week: our shortest Everest Base Camp itinerary is seven days. For most first-time visitors the rhythm that works is simple — Lhasa first, then the road.

4–7 day tours, by duration

Choosing between them

Every itinerary listed above includes the Tibet Travel Permit, a Tibetan guide, ground transport and hotels with breakfast; the day-by-day page of each tour shows exactly where you sleep and what each day covers. Travelling on your own? You can join one of our small group departures, or take any of these routes as a private trip on your own dates.

Can I see Everest Base Camp in a 4 to 7 day tour?

Only in the seven-day window — our shortest Everest Base Camp itinerary is seven days, which keeps two full days in Lhasa for acclimatization before the road south. Tours shorter than seven days stay around Lhasa and its nearby lakes and monasteries.

How many days do I need in Lhasa to acclimatize?

Plan on two full days in Lhasa (3,650 m) before you head higher. Every itinerary on this page is built that way — the city comes first, the road second.

Do these tours include the Tibet Travel Permit?
