Tradruk Monastery, also written Trandruk, (Wylie): Khra' 'brug, (Pinyin): Changzhug, in the Yarlung Valley is the earliest great geomantic temple after the Jokhang - and some sources say it is even pre-dates the Jokhang. It is located in Nêdong County of Shannan Prefecture in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, about seven kilometres south of the county seat Tsetang (Ch. Zêtang).
For thousands of years, only humans and horses treaded the mountains of Southwest China as they followed an ancient pathway through the Chinese hinterlands and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Along the unpaved and rugged pathway that was formed, commodities like tea, salt and sugar flowed into Tibet. It is so-called Tea-horse Ancient Road.
Tashilhunpo Monastery is one of the Six Big Monasteries of Gelugpa (or Yellow Hat Sect) in Tibet. Also called the Heap of Glory, the monastery is located at the foot of Drolmari (Tara's Mountain), Shigatse. Founded by the First Dailai Lama in 1447, the monastery's structure was expanded by the Fourth and successive Panchen Lamas. Tashilhunpo Monastery covers an area of nearly 300,000 square meters (3,229,279 sq. ft.). The main structures found in the Tashilhunpo Monastery are The Maitreya Chapel, The Panchen Lama's Palace and The Kelsang Temple
High up on Mure Mountain in Chonggye County of Shannan Prefecture, sits a large imperial graveyard with nine massifs. Surrounded by open ground and benefiting from moderate weather, rich soil, and beautiful landscape, this area with its favorable natural conditions was the birthplace of the ancient Tibetan nationality and the old home of the outstanding King, Songtsen Gambo.
The Tibet Museum is located in the southeast corner of Norbu Lingka, Lhasa city. It is the first large-sized comprehensive modern museum in the Tibet Autonomous Region. It is a brilliant literary and arts palace of the Tibetan people, a gem of Tibetan civilization and a treasure house of Tibetan cultural relics.
