May 15th is the “Linka” festival according to Tibetan calendar. It is called “zangmulinkasang”, means world happy festival. It is said that the day is to celebrate monk Lianhuasheng ever conquered all demons in Tibet. Tibetan people come to Linka with fabulous clothes, taking wine and tea ,as well as various delicious food.

Shoton Festival, a traditional Tibetan festival, is held annually in late June and early July in Tibetan calendar (about August in the Gregorian calendar). Thousands of Buddhists flock to Lhasa from all over the world and prostrate piously for their pilgrimage during the festival. In Tibetan language, Shoton Festival means a festival to drink yoghourt.
