This Tibet Monastery Trekking Tour offers the hiking trip between Shalu and Ngor Monastery. This trek follows the old trade route making a glorious chapter in Tibetan History come alive for hikers. In this 9 days trekking tour, you will see not only many beautiful palces in Lhasa, but also Shalu Monastery, Ngor Monastery, Nartang Monastery and Tashilunpo Monastery and have many trekkings around these famous monasteries. It is about a 10 hour trekking from Shalu to Ngor, which is divided into two days and another half day to Nartang Monastery. Detailed itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa

You will arrive at the Gonggar Airport and be greeted by your tour guide. Then you will drive to Lhasa and have a rest at your hotel in the afternoon.

Day 2: Lhasa

Today you will visit Norbulingka and the Sera Monastery. Afterwards you will then visit the Potala Palace, constructed in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of united Tibet. Later you will visit a Tibetan Family and then be taken back to your hotel for the remainder of the evening.



Day 3: Lhasa

Today you will visit the Jokhang Temple and the bazaar at Barkhor Street. Afterwards you will be taken to the Carpet Factory and The Tibetan Traditional Medicine Hospital. Finally you will see Drepung Monastery, constructed in 1416. The second through fourth Dalai Lamas once lived here. Afterwards you will be driven back to your hotel for the remainder of the evening.

Day 4: Lhasa / Yamdrok Yumtso Lake / Gyantse

In the morning you will leave for Gyantse and drive by up to Kambala Pass where you will have a beautiful view of Yamdrok Yumtso Lake. Then visit Palkhor Monastery and its stunning Kumpum stupa when you arrive in Gyantse.

Day 5: Gyantse / Shalu Monastery / Ja

In the morning, you will drive to visit Shalu Monastery. Then start a 5-6 hours trekking to Ja in the afternoon. During the trekking you will pass the mountain pass of 4100 meters high above the sea-leve. The camp equipment will be delivered by the car or landcruiser. Overnight in a camp.

Day 6: Ja / Ngor Monastery

Today continue your trek from Ja to Ngor village, about 4 hours. You will visit the Ngor Monastery which is well-known because of its rick collection of Sanskrit and Newar-style nurals. Again you will pass one more mountain pass of 4470 meters high above the sea-level. The camp equipment is delivered by the car or landcruiser.  Overnight in a camp.

Day 7: Ngor Monastery/Shigatse

Today you will trek about 2-3 hours through the villages to Nietang Monastery. After visiting Nietang Monastery where the driver will be waiting, you will be transferred to Shigatse.

Day 8: Shigatse / Lhasa

In the morning, you will visit Tashilhunpo Monastery before 5 hours driving back to Lhasa, which on the way allows you to enjoy the Bramaputra River.

Free on your own until tranfer to the airport for your next destination.
