The Gyangtse Dhamang Festival, also known as the Gyangtse Horseracing & Archery Festival began in 1408 which is the oldest festival in Tibet and generally falls on April 15-18 of the Tibetan calendar, this year from the 20th-23rd, July according to the Gregorian calendar.
Traditionally, contests include horse races, archery, and shooting on galloping horseback, and so on. Nowadays, all kinds of entertainment and fairs have been added to this plateau carnival in Tibet, such as ball games, track and field events, picnicking, folk songs and dance, as well as barter trade. Day 01(19th, July): Airport (alt.3500m) → Gyangtse(alt.4040m) [B]
Accommodation: Jian zang Hotel or similar if late booking
Highlights: Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, Kumbum Stupa; Palkhor Temple (optional and self-paid);
Schedule: Picked up at the airport and offered a white scarf (called Kada) in a Tibet traditional way which brings you good luck. After that Drive to Gyangtse, up on the 
Kambala pass (4794m), you will have a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso there, which is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. In Gyantse town, visit the famous stupa - Gyantse Kumpum, the most dedicate architectural wonder in Tibet. Stay in the hotel and expect the most stunning festival in Tibet to come.
Day 02(20th, July): Gyangtse (Dhamang Festival)

Highlights: Opening ceremony of Dhamang Festival; Horsing racing contest; Tibetan opera, sports, dancing
Schedule: In the morning, drive to the venue where the festival is going and watch the opening ceremony of the Dhamang festival, after that there will be the highlight of day— horse racing and yak racing contests and other performances, including bonfire evening party.
Day 03(21st, July): Gyangtse (Dhamang Festival) →Shigatse(alt.3850m)

Highlights: Archery, Barter trade market; Tashilumpu Monastery
Schedule: In the morning enjoy the breathtaking archery contest and buy some ethnical goods on the barter trade market for your relatives and friends. In the afternoon, drive 90 kms to Shigatse to visit Tashilumpu Monastery, seat of the Banchen Lama.
Day 04(22nd, July): Shigatse →Lhasa

Highlights: Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street
Schedule: Today in the morning we will first drive 270 km along the Friendship highway back to Lhasa, and then we will visit Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Streetin the afternoon.
Day 05(23rd, July): Potala Palace and transfer
