Day by day itinerary

 

Before approaching Tibet:

Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday: Be met in Katmandu Airport and then transfer to your hotel.

Monday, Wednesday or Friday: In the morning go to China Consulate for visa application (Our side will arrange the service for your visa application)

 

D01 Kathmandu/Zhangmu

Accommodation: Zhangmu Hotel 3* or similar class if late booking

Transfer you to the Kodari border, and our guide will pick you up there and transfer you to the accommodation place.

D02 Zhangmu/Mt. Everest Base Camp [B]

Accommodation: Sightseeing Hotel or Tent Hostel

Drive further in to the mountains to get to Mt. Everest Base Camp. You can appreciate the beautiful scenery on the way. Make an excursion to Langkhor Monastery en route. After arrival, you could have a view of Mt. Everest in distance. Visit Rongbuk Monastery upon arrival. Enjoy the close touch with Mt. Everest. Overnight at the only hotel in this area (the condition there is very simple) or you can camp in the Base Camp if the weather is nice.

 

D03 Base Camp/Lhatse [B]

Accommodation: Lhatse Shangahi Dingri Hotel 3*  

Drive further to Lhatse, visit Lhatse Chode Monastery upon arrival. Have a tour to Dangaba Hot Springs (self-paid) which are 10km east of Lhasa. Overnight at the only hotel in Lhatse.

D04 Lhatse/Sakya [B]

Accommodation: Sakya Manasarovar Hotel 2*

Continue drive to Sakya. Upon arrival, make an excursion to Sakya Monastery (4.280 m). Overnight in Sakya. The monastic town of Sakya is one of Tsang’s most significant attractions, and occupies an important place in Tibetan history. One characteristic feature of the Sakya region is the colouring of its buildings. Sakya literally means “pale earth”.

 

D05 Sakya/Shigatse [B]

Accommodation: Shigatse Mansavoar Hotel 3* or similar class if late booking

Drive to Shigatse, the second largest city of Tibet via Gyatsola Mountain Pass (5220m). Upon arrival, have a visit to the Tashilumpu Monastery and its free market.

 

D06 Shigatse/Gyangtse [B]

Accommodation: Gyangtse Hotel 3* or similar class if late booking

In the morning, go for a tour to the New Palace of Panchen, then drive onward to Gyangtse City, a famous historic city in Tibet. On the way visit Shalu Monastery. Today 90 km drive on the paved road. Upon arrival, have a tour to the Pelkhor Monastery as well as Kumbum Stupa, then roam along the Gyangtse Old Street.

D07 Gyantse/Tsedang [B]

Accommodation: Tsedang Yulong Holiday Hotel 3* or similar class if late booking

In the morning, further drive to get to Tsedang, the capital in Shannan Area, also the cradle of Tibetan culture. Enjoy the view of the holy Yamdrok Yumtso Lake en route. Upon arrival, the free time at your disposal.

 

D08 Tsedang Sightseeing [B]

Accommodation: Tsedang Yulong Holiday Hotel 3* or similar class if late booking

In the morning, make a trip in the Yarlung valley to visit the Yumbulakhang, a medieval-European castle-like structure, reputed as Tibet’s oldest building. It doesn’t take that long to explore Yumblagang, perhaps the best part of the vist is the walk up along the ridge abour the building. There’re fabulous views of the Yarlung valley. Then have a tour to Trandruk Monastery nearby.

D09 Tsedang/Lhasa [B]

Accommodation: Lhasa Mansarvoar Hotel 5* or similar class if late booking

Today drive forward to Lhasa, which is the capital of Tibet and is called “Sunlight City”. Visit to the magnificent Samye Monastery and Mindroling Monastery en route.

 

D10 Lhasa Sightseeing [B]

Accommodation: Lhasa Mansarvoar Hotel 5* or similar class if late booking

In the morning, drive to Gandan Monastery. Have a hiking around Gandan and it is called “Gandan Kora”, it is a simply stunning walk and should not be missed. There are superb views of the Kyi-chu Valley along the way and there are usually large numbers of pilgrims and monks offering prayers, rubbing holy rocks and prostrating themselves along the path. Right after that, drive back to Lhasa have a tour to Jokhang Temple and the thriving bazaar of the Barkhor Street surrouding.

D11 Lhasa Sightseeing [B]

Accommodation: Lhasa Mansarvoar Hotel 5* or similar class if late booking

Visit the magnificent Potala Palace in the morning, after lunch, visit Sera monastery.  We can do the Sera Kora walk of about 1 hr and then catch the famous debate session of the monks before returning back to Lhasa.

 

D12 Lhasa/Namtso [B]

Accommodation: Tent Hostel

Drive to Namtso Lake from Lhasa city in the morning. On the way, pay a visit the HOME monastery of Garma Kargyuelpa order—Curpu monastery. When arriving at Namtso Lake (245km to the north of Lhasa), enjoying the glory of sunset over the lake. By the lake, you can view the peak of Nyianchentangula (7162m). Stay overnight at the bank of the lake.

D13 Namtso/Lhasa [B]

Accommodation: Lhasa Mansarvoar Hotel 5* or similar class if late booking

In the early morning, forward to Namtso Lake. By the lake, you can view the peak of Nyianchentangula (7162m). Photo enthusiast can shot sunrise at Namtso Lake. Then have a little hiking around Namtso Lake and explore the Tashi peninsula by walking around the holy hill, the cliffs of which have eroded over the centuries. Visit Tashi Dor monastery. On the way piles of mani stones stand. If lucky, you could have a glance of the nomads in yak hair tents who have been living on the pastures between the holy Nam Tso and Nyenchentangla. In the afternoon, drives 250KM back to Lhasa, have a short stop for the grassland view of Yangbacheng on the way. Upon arrival, then have a tour to Drepung Monstery,

 

D14 Lhasa/Kathmandu [B]

Departure transfer to see off, take morning flight to back to Kathmandu, tour service ends.
